Fred tilted his head back, staring up at the night sky. "Red string of fate?" I smiled softly, tracing the stars with my gaze.

"Mama always says it ties two people together, no matter how far apart they are. No matter what happens, it never really breaks."

Fred raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile tugging at his lips. "And you think this string's tying us together?"

"I don't think it's just a string, Fred. It's something that tugs at my heart every time you're near, an invisible thread that pulls me closer, even when I try to pretend it's not there."
