The full moon hung high in the night sky, casting a silver glow over everything beneath it-but it bore witness to her agony.
Jisoo's body trembled as waves of unbearable heat surged through her. Her skin burned, her breath came in ragged gasps, and sweat poured down her temple like rain. She clutched Taehyung, her nails digging painfully into his skin-but he couldn't care less.
"What... what's happening to me?" she whimpered, her voice breaking.
Taehyung pulled her closer to his chest despite the heat radiating off her. His voice was low, firm, desperate. "Everything's going to be fine. You're going to be fine. Just hold on, mate. Just a little more."
She shook her head violently, tears streaking her flushed cheeks. "I-I can't feel my legs. My whole body... it's aching, it's-" her voice cracked into a sob. "It hurts so much."
Taehyung's jaw clenched. If there was anything-anything-he could do to take her pain, he would've done it without a second thought. But this was the only way. The shift had begun. Her body was awakening to what it truly was.
"I know," he whispered, pressing his forehead against hers. "I know. I'm right here."
"Please," she cried out, arching against the pain. "Make it stop... I can't take it... please!"
Her scream tore through the forest, haunting and raw-echoing into the night like a wounded soul.
And all Taehyung could do was hold her tighter, his own heart shattering with every cry...
