long ago after th Great War mermaids and merman's went separate ways. Merman went to land and the mermaid stayed in the water, basically leaving the merman population extinct. But on specific merman long ago didn't follow his brethren and instead fell in love with a siren. Creating a whole new species of mermaids/mermans. Often call lionfish merman's/mermaids since they resemble the actual poisons fish. They were poisonous but kind, and labeled as a friend to both regular mermaids and mermen. But one day they just..disappeared.

Or Vincent Singh is one of those "extinct" species and trying to survive human life. Everything was going good he even became friends with two boys named Zac and Cameron in high school and they were inseparable. Then Zack got a girlfriend and a new person was added. But ever since Zac became a merman and evie a mermaid they distanced themselves from him, as did cam. It also didn't help that one night Zac , evie, and Vincent had a one time thing that was full of emotion and kisses. So a big strain was put on their relationship. Because both parties were hiding secrets.
