Coalescence

'Coalescence' Definition: The process by which two or more separate masses of miscible substances seem to "pull" each other together should they make the slightest contact.

The changing began when Charlotte was only eighteen. She never recognized it, but she had a beautifully simple life. When the Cordeyceps outbreak began; politicians, doctors, and scientists only viewed it as another mild and treatable virus. They were so damn wrong. Now, nearly twenty years later, Charlotte is the only remaining thing from her past life. With only the company of her dog, Vito, she is under prepared, and truly naive. She has somehow miraculously managed to survive this long using the few skills she can muster. Whether they were obtained through luck or blessings, she's not quite sure. However, when she meets a grumbling, cold man named Joel and his enthusiastic, chatty young travel companion, she is forced to rethink her entire existence. With change on the horizon, she must continue learning how to adapt. And worst of all, she is forced to try and trust someone other than herself.
