The summer before sophomore year was supposed to be a reset. New friendships. New adventures. No old drama.
But when Layla returns to the coastal town of Crescent Beach, she's greeted by more than just crashing waves and bonfire parties. Trey her almost something from last summer is back, brooding and unreadable as ever. His sister, Sierra, trying to rewrite her own story as she steps further into her identity, can't shake the confusion caused by Xavier, the golden boy with a complicated heart.
Xavier has always been sunshine: bright, warm, and just out of reach. But as Layla grows closer to him, Sierra finds herself wondering if his attention means something or nothing at all.
Love, secrets, heartbreak, and everything in between collide under the summer sun, and as tensions rise, these four will have to figure out: What are we now? And who are we becoming?
Main Character Profiles:

...........
Serena Carter was just trying to live-trying to find peace in the mess that was her life. But one accident changed everything.
Abandoned. Alone. She was sent to live with the Morettis-four brothers and a father who wanted nothing to do with her. She was the reminder of their mother's biggest betrayal, the stain on their perfect legacy. Ten months. That's all she had to survive before she turned eighteen and walked away for good. Easy, right?
Wrong.
Because the Morettis might have convinced themselves they hated her, but hate was a tricky thing-it turned into obsession, into protectiveness, into something none of them were ready for. They thought they knew her, thought she was just a mistake that could be ignored.
They had no idea.
Because Serena had secrets-ones even she didn't fully understand. And in a world where power was everything, she was about to become the most dangerous piece on the board.
She wasn't just a mistake. She was a Moretti.
