Riley Carson knows exactly what she's walking into on her first day at Station 67-a firehouse full of hardened veterans, smoke, sweat, and the unspoken rule that she doesn't belong. Not just because she's a rookie. Not just because she's a woman.
But because she's the fire chief's daughter.

Everyone expects her to fail-or worse, get special treatment. But Riley's determined to prove herself the hard way, one grueling shift at a time. No shortcuts. No favors. No distractions.

Especially not the kind with a square jaw, fire-scarred hands, and a voice that can command a room with one word.

Lieutenant Aiden Shaw is the last person she should be noticing. He's her superior. Her father's protégé. And the one man in the firehouse with enough discipline to pretend he doesn't notice her right back.

But heat has a way of rising. And when the sirens fade and the adrenaline wears off, it's the stolen glances, the breathless tension, and the quiet moments between the flames that are the real danger.

He's off-limits.
She's forbidden fruit.
But the heart doesn't follow protocol.

Vedha was holding her baby in her arms, her back resting against the inclined hospital bed adjusted for her comfort. The baby was nursing at her breast, tiny gulps filling the quiet room. Slowly, she leaned forward and kissed the baby's forehead. She touched her daughter's tiny hands and feet, still in disbelief that this life had been growing inside her just hours ago-and now, here she was, her newborn nestled in her arms, suckling gently, a moment of pure, painful beauty cradled in her arms. "You are filth... an unwanted filth in my life," Vedha whispered. With that, she jolted awake. She was alone in her hospital bed, the dream fading into the sterile scent of the hospital room. Her mother, Radha, who had been sitting in the chair beside her, panicked at the sudden movement. "Vedha, what happened?" she asked anxiously. Vedha, still dazed, shook her head slowly. She glanced down at her breast-it was leaking milk. Her breasts felt swollen and painful. Her body had begun to produce milk. Even though she had rejected motherhood, her body hadn't. "Amma, look at this. Do something," Vedha said, her voice edged with discomfort. The urgency in her daughter's voice snapped Radha out of her thoughts. She nodded and said, "Wait, I'll ask the doctor," before hurrying out of the room. Inside the doctor's cabin, Radha explained the situation. The doctor listened patiently and then said, "Since you're already a mother of two, I don't need to explain to you the importance of breastfeeding. Try to convince her husband to bring the baby, even if just for a few days. It will ease her pain and be good for the child. If feeding isn't an option, we'll have to start medication to stop the milk production. The choice is yours now." Radha nodded thoughtfully and left the room. She had made up her mind to speak to Arjun-one last time.

Alyssa Henderson's life is all about balance. As a 25-year-old single mother to an energetic eight-year-old son, Liam, she juggles two demanding jobs-one as a paralegal, the other waiting tables at a local restaurant. The exhaustion is constant, but Alyssa wouldn't have it any other way. Everything she does is for Liam, and when an opportunity arises to attend an event for his favorite NHL team, the Colorado Yeti, she can't resist. It's a small moment of joy in their busy lives, and meeting one of Liam's heroes, defenseman Justin Myers, is an unexpected bonus. Justin Myers, a 32 year old NHL player, seems like the epitome of success-strong, confident, and at the top of his game. But beneath the polished image lies a man struggling to piece his life back together after a painful divorce. When their paths cross again and again, Alyssa brushes off the encounters as nothing more than coincidence, a brief glimpse into the world of professional hockey that her son will never forget. But as the seasons change, so do their lives. With each meeting, Alyssa and Justin begin to see each other in a new light. She's fiercely independent, protective of her heart, and wary of anything that could upset the fragile world she's working so hard to build. He's navigating his own heartbreak, unsure of what's to come for him and his daughters. In the middle of hectic schedules, late-night shifts, and the whirlwind of their separate lives, Alyssa and Justin begin to realize that love-like hockey-is all about timing, trust, and learning how to skate through the rough patches together.
