"'Y-You don't wanna mess with me,' my voice quivers. Why am I not as brave as my mom?

I back up.

'I have a whole group of cops that'll get your ass in a m-minute flat.'

I take another step back. They're surrounding me.

What did Mom teach me? Don't go home. Get something sharp out. Call 911. Call the squad.

'Oh you don't wanna do that,' says a male voice. He comes closer.

'No, you don't wanna do that," says another male voice. But older and authoritative. And he's not in the circle.

I slip keys out of my pocket, aiming them at all of them. Where's mace when I need it?!

But the second man comes closer. With no worry of me calling Detective Olivia Benson."

Ellie Benson never had problems growing up in New York. Nor did she think she would with NYPD's SVU on her side. But one night, walking home, she encounters a group of men. One takes her, one shoots at him without a second's warning. All the knowledge she has from her mother won't help her tonight.
