Hamburg, Germany, 1938. When a distracted student named Fritz befriends a Jewish boy, he has to hide this secret from his parents, who are Nazi party members. Jakob, a religious Jew, becomes friends with a secular German. He is afraid of the dangers that might come to his family, and of the separation that might tear him from his home. As their friendship grows, so do the threats against the Jewish people. Jakob is harassed daily, and Fritz fails to meet the expectations of his parents. Will they rebel against political expectations and family, or will they stay as they are, hiding who they truly are? Will Jakob stay safe, or will he be torn from Fritz? *ATTENTION* I know that the names for the characters may seem REALLY stereotypical. If this is the case, please know that in no way to I mean to enforce a stereotype, I just REALLY like the names (the names here in America are really boring to be honest) Also, Fritz, Jakob, Hans, Lukas, and all other characters are original and belong to me. If they resemble any persons living or dead, that is purely coincidence.
