I wrote Opera between the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013.
Maybe you won't like it. Maybe you will find it pointless. For once, that's fine.
I wrote Opera for me. Opera is about what I've learnt in this period of my life, it's about the person I'm trying to become.
It's a love letter I wrote to myself. It's the love letter I wish I had written to myself in the past.
Today, May25th, I wrote the final part. Now I know that my journey is complete, and I can move on.

I'm still pondering its ebook publication so I will leave out some parts. However the parts I find essential are all here.
Read it if you want. Like it if you want. Hate it if you want.
For once, it doesn't really matter.

Bliss. Delight. Contentment. Euphoria. Elation. Joy. Glee. Felicity. Jubilation. These are all words synonymous to the word happiness. But what is true happiness? Happiness is that feeling of butterflies fluttering around in your chest, trying to break out. Happiness is that invisible fluid rushing in your veins, making you shiver in the most wonderful way. Happiness is the force that pulls your cheeks up into the widest smile and makes your eyes twinkle. Happiness makes you light-headed and giddy, it is in fact like alcohol. Well then, I am utterly and completely drunk. When you're happy, everything feels amazing. Even small insignificant things like getting up in the morning. The golden hue of sunlight streaming in through the curtains feels like a soft caress from the hand of a lover. The birds seem to chirp sweetly outside, a melody to which the leaves sway as if mesmerised by their music. The curtains tango with the wind beautifully. Every little thing seems perfect. And that's a word I'd use to describe my life. Perfect. To give you a little introduction about me, let me start by explaining the most important aspects of my life. I have a loving family. There's my sarcastic, yet surprisingly sweet brother, my beautiful mother (both in looks and spirit) and my stern, yet humorous father. People always say every life should be cherished. That every single one of them is equally fragile and precious. Like a beautiful glass sculpture or the blossoming flowers in spring. But the thing is, everyone's definition of beautiful is different. Some people prefer roses over orchids. Some of them like sculptures of people whereas others like sculptures of animals. And so there are times when even the most beautiful sculpture gets thrown away like trash or forgotten somewhere because they found one that's prettier. The beautiful flowers that bloomed in spring will wither away and eventually become nothing but dust. There are times when a sculpture in itself could be really beautiful but a tiny flaw will make people deem it as a "mistake". The flowers that are left to wither away just because they miss a leave, or because they aren't the right size or the right colour. So you see that saying about every life being equally precious?, yeah that only counts for the "perfect" ones. Still some of these faulty sculptures and broken flowers managed to make it into the world. They would be facing the harsh reality of this world and would have to fight to survive. Some of them would unfortunately lose this fight in the end, leaving to a faraway place in hopes to find peace and quiet. Still just being able to make it this far in this harsh world is something to be proud of, as friends and family will forever remember these brave individuals who fought hard to survive until the very end. - Kaylee de Leeuw
