This is an excerpt from my fan fiction screenplay DESPICABLE SCARLET.

DESPICABLE SCARLET picks up the adventures of supervillain Scarlet Overkill where MINIONS left off. Scarlet, along with her trusty inventor husband Herb, embarks on a revenge mission against Felonius Gru in order to reclaim "her" crown, with plans to take down the Anti-Villain League in the process. When an unexpected betrayal throws her plan into chaos, Scarlet suddenly faces the most difficult battle of her life.

Rated PGT (Pretty Good Times) for action, cartoon violence, supervillain shenanigans, an epic martial arts battle, scenes of Scarlet Overkill being fabulous, Minion mayhem, canon compliance except where things like subversive shipping is involved, Herb Overkill being foxy, social commentary, song suggestions that have no business in a professional screenplay but this is fan fiction so all bets are off, and bananas.

Whenever possible I turn familiar tropes on their heads: instead of a handsome young Lancelot, I cast a broken-down ex-champion addicted to pain-killing herbs; instead of a dashing Squire Brian, the old knight reluctantly takes an ambitious young woman as squire. Similarly, I re-imagine the standard medieval milieu by infusing aspects of two of my favorite historical periods, Elizabethan England, and The American Frontier.
