The Unwanted Wendigo [ManxMan]
57 parts Complete Mature"Sometimes the world doesn't need another hero."
It is said that mortal life is ever-changing. Only among the ageless, the old, and the divine will the constants be found. And yet, for all that they are constant, greed can influence even the most ancient of beings. After centuries of inactivity, Zeus, king god of the Greek pantheon, has grown restless, dreaming of a kingdom ruled by one god - himself. He took action, but his plans have been put on hold thanks to an enemy god, who temporarily sealed his pantheon away on Mount Olympus. However, unbeknownst to all at the time, his brother, Poseidon, and nephew, Triton, had escaped, and perhaps now it is their time to rule.
They say greed is what makes a wendigo, but, in truth, it is not greed; it is cannibalism - cannibalism and magic. The Wendigo, dubbed Wendy, never wanted to be ageless. He never asked for it, never wanted it, and has long since grown to despise it. Agelessness means a hunger that never settles - a pain in his stomach that never truly abates - but he lives on despite, and perhaps to spite, that. He is a monster, and he knows it, but in a world filled with monsters far worse than himself, in a world where even humans can be monsters, he does not feel too bad about this fact. Still, though, he has to wonder: what fool invites a monster to a wedding?
"Sometimes what it needs is a monster."
