❝When it was quiet, I didn't have to worry about a monster trying to make me its lunch. I did, however, have to worry about my wandering thoughts, and I'd have a different monster on my hands if I let them wander too far.❞

A virus has erupted, turning loved ones into mindless, ravenous, killers. Where the rest of the world sees madness, Kathryn Johnson sees opportunity. She runs from her immutable hell, disappearing into the trees of Northern Georgia. Little does Kathryn know, she hasn't escaped hell, rather swapped one for another. In a moment of unhampered curiosity, she stumbles upon a group that won't take no for an answer.

Through these people, Kathryn finds herself examining the walls she's kept herself locked behind. After a lifetime of unknown, a question waits for her on the other side: Can the broken be fixed?

Daryl Dixon and his found daughter, Elena Monroe, take charge of leading a massive walker herd away from Alexandria on his motorcycle. But when unknown assailants force them off the road, they find themselves in the woods, captured by Dwight, his brother Hunter, and their group, who are unknowingly fleeing the Sanctuary. Seeing Daryl and Elena as a threat, they hold them hostage. However, Hunter's growing interest in Elena and her discovery that Sherry's sister is diabetic lead Elena to convince Daryl to let them go. As Daryl and Elena return home, they're stopped by a group of motorcyclists claiming to work for "Negan." Daryl eliminates the threat, but when they finally reach Alexandria, it's overrun with walkers. The group fights to protect their community, but the cost is devastating: Deanna, Jessie, and her children are lost, and Carl is gravely injured. With resources running low, Rick and Daryl meet Jesus, a stranger with ties to Hilltop. In exchange for food, the group agrees to fight Hilltop's oppressors-the Saviors. Elena refuses to join the fight, sensing the danger of provoking the Saviors. Her fears are realized when Rick's raid on their outpost sets off a deadly chain of events. At Negan's infamous lineup, the group is shattered by the loss of Glenn and Abraham. When Negan threatens Carl, Rick's desperation leads him to reveal Elena's immunity-a betrayal that shocks everyone. Negan, intrigued but unconvinced, takes Daryl and Elena hostage. While Daryl suffers in a cell, Elena is treated like royalty, with Negan trying to win her over. Hunter, guilt-ridden, helps them escape but finds himself falling for Elena along the way. Back in Alexandria, the group prepares for war, but Elena's unexpected connection with Negan leaves her torn. Can she protect those she loves, or will Negan destroy everything she holds dear? War is inevitable, but survival will come at a price. For Elena, the fight has never been more personal.

*** CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTANT REVISION AND EDITING! UPDATING WHENEVER POSSIBLE *** **Previous called "Post Apocalyptic Love (Daryl Dixon Fanfiction** *yes, there is smut. since its a daryl dixon fanfic, it only seemed fitting. i will put a warning in the chapter that have it, so if you are uncomfortable with reading smut, skip that part. this is all my first time writing this kinda stuff so take it easy on me. thanks!* ~~ The book is separated by each season of TWD, so if you have a favorite season you can chose to read Kelley's story from there ~~ A virus broke out across the globe, reanimating the dead and creating mass chaos. In a matter of days, half of the world's population was either dead or turned. The government collapsed, TV and radio stations shut down, and everyone was left to fend for themselves. Kelley lost everything in the beginning. Her family, her house, even her small hometown in the state of Georgia. So she decided to leash up her dog, a Belgian Malinois named Bud, gather some supplies, and head towards Atlanta. She encounters a small group along the way. Survivors just like her, with stories and losses of their own. She soon becomes close to them, feeling like she has found another family, and she will do anything to protect them. This is a story of lost, love, survival, and surprises. The world doesn't care that you are alone, doesn't care if you're hungry, and doesn't care that death lurks around every corner. The undead feed on the living and the living can't be trusted. As the days pass and the world she knew was gone, she keeps a record of everything that has happened since first night. In a world where previous history is long forgotten, Kelley believes it is necessary to write down her journey and keep track of all things apocalyptic, so that maybe one day it will help others learn how to survive... and not make the same mistakes she has. So, let's start at the beginning.
