Sixteen-year-old Charlotte Martin has spent a lifetime in the shadows. Constantly vying for her famed mother's attention, Charlotte couldn't imagine a life more dull or lonely and is convinced her brother Luc is the only person who cares for her. But with war threatening the safety of her hometown Paris, Charlotte is devastated when her parents send her to England until the war is over.
