His monstrous eyes would strike fear into any man or demon but she stood staring into them. It was not because she was afraid. It was because of the way he looked at her. He looked confused, his head tilted slightly. She surprised herself by boldly touching his face. The snarls died immediately. It was followed by a deafening silence rhythmically broken by his laboured breathing.
His eyes cleared. She could see the bright blue that sent her heart soaring. But the moment lasted while it could.
"Amara, run!"
