Ariel Fontansia is ten pounds away from total relapse. Since the previous summer, she has been stuck in a vicious cycle of calories, pounds, and inches. Redemption, Maine, isn't another escape -- it's a dead end. With no one to keep her disorder in check and hallucinations of a dead cousin driving her insane, she falls into an isolation that could prove detrimental.

Standing in her way is a black-eyed boy with an anger complex: Price Olsen, who wants her to see more than the bad side of his grief. With an absentee father and a mute little sister, he recognizes the signs of someone on the edge. He wants to save Ariel, but up until this point, he's had a nasty penchant for ruining relationships.

When her best friend overdoses, Ariel is forced to face the deterioration of her own mind and body. Price, frustrated by his inability to help her, fights the anger that threatens to take an ugly twist. As their fragile friendship teeters, another bruised, broken teenager chasing reconciliation stumbles through their lives. Yet she isn't just another damsel; this girl has a history in Redemption that involves the death of Ariel's cousin.

Peaceful lives unraveling, all three discover that Redemption is harboring a secret with dangerous consequences. Now, they will be forced to face their past - and their present - to determine the course of their future. But how far are they willing to go for redemption?

Centuries after the Fall, the United States has been wiped away. The crumbling remains of the great American empire are home now only to savage, lawless tribes and packs of ravening Damned-the twisted children of the apocalypse. Most of those few who survived humanity's destruction spend their short lives in a violent struggle for survival. But some light still flickers in the darkness: the Blessed of Bountiful live in seclusion, relying on walls both physical and spiritual to protect them from the Desolation that their world has become. Among them are the Saints, those few men and women born with superhuman abilities that the Blessed see as gifts from God. The violent apostate tribes of the Northeast Kingdom have always been a danger, but up until recently its small size and the vigilance of its people have made Bountiful an unappealing target. As attacks on the community grow harsher and more frequent, however, even the steadfast Blessed are forced to start preparing for the worst. With her home's very existence threatened, seventeen year old Ever Oaks, a Saint with the power to heal, is forced to make a difficult choice, one that may come to define her people's future... Exile was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence's Great Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (#SPFBO). Fantasy Faction said it was "extremely cool," and Bookish Lifestyle called it "more than just a story, a journey and an experience." When I'm asked about it, I often describe it as "X-Men meets The Walking Dead." In addition to reading it here for free, you can buy Exile in e-book or paperback on Amazon.com.

Here are a few questions I am constantly asked: 'Do I do well in school?' No, are you kidding me? The only subject I'm good at is Visual Arts. 'Do I have a kind and caring family?' No, I don't think I do. 'Do I have anyone who cares about me?' No, I'm a loner and socially awkward. 'Do I have privileges?' No, if you haven't understood the message yet, I live in an abusive household. Now, you might ask if there are any questions the answer is yes. I'll give you some. 'Do I want to die?' Yes, I sometimes do. 'Do I feel alone in this world?' Yes, always. 'Do I get a beating every day?' Yes. *** This is Amara Williams, a 13 year-old with average grades and no friends.
