En route to an urgent humanitarian mission, the U.S.S. Enterprise D stumbles upon a strange sight; a blue, wooden box stranded in the middle of Federation territory, motionless and without power. Its occupant, a strange, seemingly British chap stranded in a universe that is not its own. The challenge to the Enterprise's crew seems straightforward enough; learn if this strange occupant is really who and what he claims to be. But for the Doctor, the questions he face are far more troubling... and, should he find the answers he seeks, he may well wish he hadn't.

"You really care about her, don't you?" Tom said, but the commander didn't answer. So Tom clarified his statement. "The Captain, I mean." "I have the utmost respect and admiration for Captain Janeway." Chakotay's response had been a long time coming. "Yeah, that too..." Tom threw in, as the tone of Chakotay's voice suggested the question had hit a little too close to home. Tom paused momentarily, mulling over what to say next or whether to keep his mouth shut. He put his hand on Chakotay's shoulder. "Commander, I could be wrong but, personally, I think you're holding out on false hope. If it was me, I'd want to know for sure. Maybe even push the point. Make a move. I mean, what's the worst case scenario here? Either she's going to phaser you, or she's going to..." "Consider yourself relieved, Lieutenant!" They both jumped, startled at the sound of her voice. Inwardly, Tom wondered how long the captain might have been standing behind him, while he tried to remember the last few words of his conversation with Chakotay. SYMBOLS or more informally "Why the heck Chakotay chose Seven of Nine when, previously, he wanted to throw her out the nearest airlock" is a work of fanfiction. It sticks to canon and is an ensemble piece, but focuses on Janeway and Chakotay predominantly. Paramount and Pocket Books own everything Star Trek - no copyright breaches intended. I just took the characters out for a play. Literary agent sent most of this to Pocket Books in 1998, but they didn't want it. I have a sweet rejection letter! So it's mine now. A couple of re-writes since then to relocate it in Season 7 and add Chapter 1 and the Epilogue. Heartfelt thanks to Mary Wood, Heather Harwood, Sara Creasy and Mary S (Duffydog) for the editing long ago. Book cover template from Graphic Springs. Feedback is always appreciated.

BOOK ONE // 9th 10th 11th Fanfiction ~~ 'Who am I?' That is the question Elizabeth Smith has been asking herself since she can remember. Literally. Elisabeth was 5 when she was found, with no memories of what happened before she ended in that sinister alley, in London. She was an orphan. Her chance to start a relatively 'normal' life in the orphanage goes crumbling to pieces due to the strangeness that constantly surrounds her. Soon after her arrival, Elizabeth becomes an outcast. All because of her strangely eery, though beautiful dreams. Dreams about the Daleks, Cybermen and a man in a blue box, travelling through time and space. But are these dreams true? Is the Doctor, the mad man from her dreams, real? That's what she thinks until she meets him. Their encounters go from an accidental meeting on the street to an art exhibition in her room, when he shows up at the orphanage in the middle of the night. What will happen when he'll find out about her dreams? WIll Lizzie finally have her questions answered? About who she is, who her parents were and why they abandoned her with nothing but a strange jammed watch to keep her company? Lizzie will have to travel through time and space, meet people and aliens, friends of the Doctor and all of his different regenerations. All under a false identity, in an attempt to prevent a collapse in the time's continuum. What will happen when she will fall in love with her childhood hero, as she bounces from timeline to timeline and discovers things about his past? She'll have to figure this all out as quickly as she can, for she doesn't have much time left: with every second that passes, her end crawls closer and closer... *The 12th Doctor is severly underrated, I personally adore the man! I would love to see more people write fanfics about 12 :) little side rant* Before, it was just a man and his box. But one day, he finds someone oddly intriguing on their first encounter at a restraunt... His first impression of her was young, sarcastic, kind and clever, but there was just something about her that made him think. Whatever it was, he was soon to find out. He has no idea what the future holds for him. Could {Y/n} possibly be the girl he forgot. 'The forgotten girl.' 12th Doctor x female! reader (( All Rights go to BBC and the creator's of Doctor Who! )) #1 12thdoctor - 12/08/20 #1 Petercapaldi - 10/11/23
