After running away from an embarassing dance lesson, she ends up at The Vixen Inn, run by her friend, Sophia Brook. While there, a bounty hunter and his prisoner,Jeremy Hawkins, seek refuge from a storm.

I read some of the comments where people were upset about the mores of the time. It's not my personal belief. I'm just reflecting what people believed in those days.
I appreciate comments. Most people don't use swear words, and I and most readers appreciate that. Please refrain from using swear words in your comments.

It was like every nerve in my body had come alive, every inch of me buzzing, aching for something more. I could feel his chest brush against mine with every shallow breath I took, and the way he whispered made my legs weak. That voice-dark, smooth-was quickly becoming my favorite sound. I swallowed hard, my head spinning. "Chris..." He leaned in, his lips so close they almost touched mine, his breath hot against my skin. "What's a mistake, Sarah?" I couldn't breathe. I couldn't think. Every Word I had planned, every but of resolve I thought I had, shattered under the weight of his gaze. This was wrong. I knew it. But I didn't want him to stop. ***This is my original work, and if anyone decides to steal it and post it anywhere else without specific permission, I will not hesitate to take legal action against you!!!!*** A girl to take home to one's mother with no fear of sharp disapproval. Sure, she was plain and dull, but she was the sort one could settle down with in a few years after the sowing of the wild oats was completed. . .if one could get past how plain and ordinary she was that is. In truth, Lady Lavinia Antrucha was nothing compared to her sister, Cassandra. She had neither beauty nor social notoriety. . .but at least she didn't leave a trail of broken hearts behind her. She's the one people go to when they're in trouble and don't know what to do, the one who is supposed to be the stronger of the two Antrucha girls, the one her parents expect will stay with them for the rest of their lives, because what man would want to marry plain, little Lavinia? The most sought after bachelor in all of Scotland, the life of any given party, that's what they named Laird Ethan Brodi. He was the toast of high society and the man every mother yearned to see on their doorstep, asking to see their fine daughter. He knew there was something more to life than petty women who couldn't see past his fine physique, and he intended to find it; that is, until his father decided he had spent enough time unmarried and forged an alliance with the rich Antruchas by promising him in marriage to the eldest daughter who would certainly match Ethan in good looks and fine tastes. As far as Ethan was concerned, Lady Cassandra Antrucha could take a long walk off a short pier, but his father's word was law, and so to England he must go to meet his future bride. Can he go through with a marriage when his heart yearns for another? #Wattys2016

Despite the unshakable attraction between them, Maeve and Lucian are uninterested in love and marriage; especially since they hate one another and couldn't think of a worse match. • • • London, 1815 Maeve Langston's aversion to the opposite sex has given her the reputation of being an insufferable wench, so men have learned to stay away from her. Lucian Thorne, Baron Worthington, has become somewhat of a cynical hermit since his return from the Napoleonic wars, injured and disgruntled. When the two meet, they rapidly learn to despise each other. She appears to be a narcissistic brat, and he keeps acting like a pompous arse. Lucian wants nothing more than to stay away from Maeve, but his best friend has his eyes set on her for marriage. He has no choice but to show him the dreadful harpy that lies beneath the lovely facade. However, the more time they spend in each other's presence, the clearer it becomes that first impressions can be wrong. Between their unexpected similarities and the sparks that fly every time they meet, what started as hatred slowly shifts into something different. Something both of them will find much more dangerous. • • • This is the second installment of the Langston Series. Although I advise you to read the first one first (The Prince and the Spitfire), it can be read as a standalone.
