absurdrabelais
When Pantagloom, the delicate, moody second-born giant prince from Utopia receives a corked glass jar from his father King Gargantua, he expects a heartfelt note, only to find Roux, a human court jester, trapped inside. Gifted to serve as an advisor and companion to "cure" the prince of his melancholy, Roux is initially terrified of his host's colossal size.
As Pantagloom's quiet presence and artistic vulnerability shine through, a unique, friendly bond begins to form. Bound by emotional honesty in a world of loud, careless giants, the melancholic prince and his sharp-witted fool navigate court intrusions, subverting cultural expectations and choosing to form an unlikely friendship.
// Niche, hyper-specific Gargantua and Pantagruel fanfiction I wrote while studying it. Intended as a fun intellectual exercise, it turned into a full-on project. That being said, I take creative liberties for the sake of maintaining a consistent new fantasy world. It strongly diverts from the canon text in some ways, but less in others.
// It is not obscene or crude like the original book, sticking firmly to safe for work guidelines. As usual, I'd love to see any thoughts or friendly discussions about the story in the comments. Thank you for checking it out!
