She was truly there-cutting through storm clouds with a demon.
"I can't explain everything to you. Not yet. You're not ready," Viloh said, his voice close to her ear, calm but steady.
She could feel his breath against her neck. She didn't dare look into his eyes-she knew she would lose herself in them again, and right now she needed to stay grounded, to understand what was happening, no matter how unreal it felt.
Their bodies were pressed together. She felt everything. The violent wind around them. The cold of his body against hers. And yet, inexplicably, the warmth blooming inside her. She still couldn't understand why being close to him made her feel that way-calm, almost comforted. It was something beyond words. She tried to fight it, to resist it. But this time, the physical closeness stripped her of any strength.
She let her head fall against his neck and closed her eyes. She needed to forget the height, the emptiness beneath them. She inhaled deeply, letting herself be overtaken by his scent. Her eyes rolled back behind closed lids. Her arms tightened around him.
"But it won't be long. And when the time comes, I'll be there. I'll take you with me. You don't belong here. You'll understand soon enough."
Sarah lifted her gaze. He was looking straight at her.
There was something in his expression-intense, yes, but also strangely comforting, like the warmth of a fire when it's cold outside-dangerous, yet warm, almost welcoming.
He held her firmly, both arms wrapped around her waist and back.
And Sarah felt an overwhelming urge to sink into him, as though she wanted to become one with him.
Viloh shifted his grip, holding her with one arm while the other rose to her face, his touch impatient yet careful-like he, too, needed to draw her closer.
"I don't understand... you're so different."
