“that was /reckless/. you’re lucky that you didn’t get hurt,” inej huffed, her arms crossing as she let out a small scoff. “just- be more careful.” she added, shaking her head. “i think we’d all prefer if you weren’t out of commission.”

“Don’t give me that. You know why I did it, darling. Plus what’s a little more damage to my leg, I’d rather that than you being hurt.” He replied as he finally looked up at her. “I wasn’t intentionally doing so, I was just double checking to make sure the rest of it went as planned and as always, it did, even if I had to improvise at the end.” He replied simply, watching her carefully. @crowswraith

“a calculated risk.” she echoed, almost shaking her head. “well, it could’ve gotten /you/ hurt instead. honestly, i don’t know why you did it.” she muttered, crossing her arms across her chest. “is it really? we were lucky. lucky that none of us did end up getting hurt.” she added quietly. inej’s eyes narrowed as she finally noticed that he hadn’t looked at her. “you’re avoiding looking at me, kaz. is there a reason why?” unlike him, she was situated with her back pressed against a wall. she’d much prefer standing to sitting.

Kaz shut the door behind them rather loudly as he walked over to his seat, his cane tapping rhythmically on the wooden floor. He took a seat at the desk but didn’t look up archer as he spoke. “I don’t /do/ reckless, I was simply taking a calculated risk to not jeopardise the mission, whilst protecting someone I…care about. If it meant I was out of action for a bit? Well it’s more preferable than someone getting injured unnecessarily.” He replied, knowing that she had a point but he’d made the decision to protect Inej from being hurt. @crowswraith
