I have followed Alice down the rabbit hole many times before. The earliest instance was while I was in elementary school. I had grown tired of staying in my room, staring at the ceiling, so instead, I shrank myself down and walked through a large, rectangular portal. Appearing in a birch forest, I was all alone except for another girl called Alice. She too, had grown bored of sitting around and doing nothing and had chanced upon this forest. Alice and I instantly bonded over our thirst for knowledge and imagination, and we proceeded to go on numerous adventures together.

We encountered many people in our travels, who were always friendly and willing to tell their exhilarating experiences. A boy named Harry enraptured us with his tale of the struggle between good and evil and the power of love and sacrifice, while a girl named Wendy told us of a place where children never grew up and played all day.

As time passed, Alice and I entered worlds more and more similar to my own. These worlds taught Alice and me to see the shades of grey in between the black and white. Through the charming love story of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy and the heart wrenching tale of Tom Robinson, Alice and I were introduced to the idea of prejudice, and its consequences on the lives of people. Unwilling to let the forest be consumed by darkness, Alice and I vowed to continue searching for the light in each individual we met in our travels.

As you step into my new forest, you will see two girls standing by a pond. They might be crying into each others' shoulders, or they might be laughing at a funny story one told the other. Either way, both will turn towards you and smile brightly.

Welcome to my birch forest.

Note: I do not follow people randomly in my forest. To those that I have followed, I greatly value your writing and friendship. Unfortunately, I cannot meet everyone that I come across in this magical land and am sorry.
