Hi, there! Long time no type, he understated. I just wanted to come by and tell all y'all that, at long last, I'm launching a Substack.
          
          Most people do this because they have something they want to write about; characteristically, I have done it backwards, by having my brain eaten over the last few weeks by a 21,000-word nonfiction/opinion piece about some awfully remarkable, remarkably weird ... and in places very dark ... recent history. A history of artificial intelligence, believe it or not.
          
          In general the plan is to write about modern artificial intelligence -- research, applications, weirdness, prospects, cultural impact, and history -- in an opinionated yet reasonably rigorous way, because it's by far the most interesting current technology wavefront. (In related news, my new science fiction novel EXADELIC, out next year from Tor Books, is about AI.) 
          
          Thankfully -- my brain is still recovering from being devoured -- this series is now done, dusted, and scheduled for daily publication starting next week. Y'all can go ahead and subscribe at https://aiascendant.substack.com/ -- Hope to see you there!
