Alright. Chapter 10. Kota's way too blunt (and stupid) to leave the anything in the dark for me to reasonable hold off on (Y/n)'s identity until "Icarus". So, chapter 10. You guys get to find out what (Y/n) is. I might build your theories before it gets released. It's more fun that way. I'm going to release the rewrite of "Insatiable" first (20 more chapters) which might help your guesses. I estimate May 13th-ish at 2pm. I'll update when the rewrite of "Insatiable" is finished.

Also, a warning to those who are following along with the series. Everything that came before "Storm In A Teacup" is tame in comparison. This book is violent and nightmarish and Kota is unforgiving. He's constantly on the offensive. It's finally getting to the real horror. (On a related note, I have never had such an easy time planning out a character's death).

As a hint to my mystery hunter readers, the scrapbook-looking pictures at the beginning of each chapter are not just for show. I might take a moment to glance over them. That's all.

@Ruby20018 Good question. It will be replacing it completely, writing over the original. Also, I’m glad you’re enjoying my work <3

Is the rewrite gonna be replacing the original story or will it be posted separately? Can’t wait btw lol I think in no I’ve read each of your story’s about 8 times each

Has anyone figured out what Kota is, by the way? I mean, I know I teased it a little bit in Storm in a Teacup already, but based on the (Kota-inspired) cover of the headcanons right now, any guesses?

LocketOfSecrets

@Ur_mom7276 Haha. Yeah, you got it. It wasn't a secret or anything. It's been lingering around since the first book. I was just curious to see if anyone picked up on the more obvious hints, like the cover.

@LocketOfSecrets tbh i have no real guesses. Idrk japanese folklore, or even mythology for that matter. As the person above said, it's probably related to dreams and sleep. Even the hd cover says sweet, sweet dreams

Ur_mom7276

I’m not sure if this is correct as it isn’t so much a species as it is a single figure in mythology; but is Kota inspired from the japanese Baku? The dream catcher and cutlery from the cover of head cannons, and y/n not having nightmares for once both really reminded me of the Baku.

I am 5/8 of the way done with the Insatiable rewrite. I've added in a lot more backstory, smoother character progression, and clearer character traits. Also, I've adjusted the tone to be more reasonable. I cut out unnecessary filler and replaced it with more fun/less cliché scenes. Plus, there are toooons of hints for those of you sifting through the mystery (my favorite part). Also, as always, Haru is frickin' hilarious to me.
          ________________________________________________________________
On a separate note, so many people have been asking me for a voice claim and I have been working on it. I can for sure tell you a few of the characters, but some elude me, so if you have a good idea for one of the characters you know thus far, please feel free to give me some ideas (I prefer Japanese voice actors/singers, but I also recognize characters have accents like Akari and others [somewhere between Italian, French, and Sumerian], Haru [somewhere between French and Portuguese], Ryota [a creole accent somewhere between a Chinese language (probably Black Miao)/South Korean (for Umayena) and Japanese (for Athain)], Hotaka [somewhere between Kannada and Japanese - an assimilated accent formation], and ??? [just straight up Columbian <3). So, suggestions are appreciated.
          ________________________________________________________________
(I'm a Linguist, by the way, so I can and will get really in depth about the languages/culture in my stories as you will see with ???, who - I will tell you right now - is from Pasnad. My majors are Applied Linguistics and Japanese, my minors are English and Comparative Literature and TESL/TEFL (Teaching English as a second/foreign language). Right now, I'm trilingual, but I'm on a fast-track to become a polyglot (next up is Mandarin then some Arabic language, maybe more). I also have dual citizenship in Italy and America. There's a bunch more to it, but that's a tiny résumé that would explain my obsession with the cultures of my world.)

@LocketOfSecrets so cooollllll. I probably won't be able to help with the voice claim sadly, but hello to fellow multilingual anyway. Haru definitely looks like a fun character to write too

LocketOfSecrets

Yeah, actually, I’d love some ideas <3

@LocketOfSecrets something like the big argument chapter, just the yandere's interacting with each other. if you want i can come up with some scenarios, if that'll clear up some confusion and give you ideas ^^

LocketOfSecrets

@tsuatsu When you say "silly", what kind of oneshot were you looking for? (And thank you, I am very happy with the new ones, too. I just have to do Rei's and Yamato's now to complete the set.)

!!! I just noticed the changes in PC and IH's' covers! It's so pretty :0

@LocketOfSecrets i see... That makes a lot more sense, actually

Whoops. I copy over the bookmarks/numbers, but ISAIH is supposed to be 1.5. And the numbers stand for amount of lore, the recommended order to read them in, and the level of darkness
Reply

Unavailable002

@Unavailable002 and since we're on the topics of covers anyway... I noticed this a while ago but never really talked about it. Both PC and ISAIH are marked as 4. Why is that? Every other book has a different order (which I'm assuming is lore-wise)

I don't usually talk about myself (it's about the stories, not me), but I was rolling over laughing during the ongoing process of rewriting Insatiable because of something I wrote about Haru and his mother.

On a related note, what do you guys think my major/s is/are? You can also throw in a guess about my minor. I wonder if it will be unexpected or not.

LocketOfSecrets

Alright, alright. You guys might be mad at me since I previously said that Kota was going to be genderfluid.

However, the more I write about him (I'll use he/him pronouns until I figure this out), the more I get confused and lost. There are so many subsections to what he is that I don't feel confident confining him to any at all. I wanted to write "A Storm In a Teacup" to explore this in more detail as his sub-plot, but he is more than his gender/sexuality. In fact, those things are a backburner to his even more complicated identity (that you guys will discover later).

The way the book's plot is currently planned to go, it is centered around (Y/n)'s past. Takuya aligns/juxtaposes with her sexual harassment/abuse whereas Kota aligns/juxtaposes with her parentification. Along with that, Kota has a super important role that will eat up his "screen-time". So, the space I'll have left to explore Kota's identity might not be a lot (though it's definitely an interesting thing I want to explore even in passing).

So, moral of the story is this: I don't know Kota's gender identity and - because of some plot-related factors - he definitely doesn't know either. So, I'm sorry for any confusion, but if you read along in his book, let's explore who he is together.

Ur_mom7276

You could try using they/them pronouns for Kota. You could blend it in with the story as Kota kinda just experimenting for something that isn’t either gender norm? (obviously I don’t know what’s going on in the story or much about Kota though)

@LocketOfSecrets it's okay lololol as long as you have fun writing it, I'm fine with it! It's also nice to grow along with a character :) I'm afraid I'm gonna get too attached to him haha
