Why do I write? I write to help others be seen and understood. This world has a dark tendency to look away from suffering and hurts that they don't understand or are afraid of. Pain is only contagious in that it should break your heart to see others broken hearted. The power of words and stories is to shed light on such corners and walk a mile in the shoes of someone who you may have overlooked. We can have experience only in our own head until we have stepped into a story. It is as much about me learning as it is about me sharing with others. This is my primary goal in TMS and in any writing that I do. If the story is good, it is a side effect. The best stories I have read are ones that allow me to suspend my experience and step into another's - the ones that expand my ability to understand and appreciate another person. I believe in love, and I hope that, above all else, is reflected in the words I write. You must see others to love them. May my words reach you and make you feel seen.
