My name is Yasmine. I'm 30. I live in Louisiana. I'm a dispatcher for the fire department. I love reading so wattpad and fanfiction/ao3 sees me a lot. I only read about black women on here. Specifically brown and darkskinned ones. Why? Simple. Darker hued black women are constantly overlooked and disrespected still today. This far in the new millennium. This site has too many books about white women and light skinned black and non black women but not enough about darker skinned ones. That's a problem to me. I have nothing against white or light skinned women but as a dark skinned black woman(moreso brown but nowhere close to light)i like to read about women who look like me and aren't appreciated enough like they deserve. Dark girls are the underdogs. The outcasts. In life and on this site. I root for the underdogs. Therefore chocolate will always be the preference. I only read books that end happily as well. Life is depressing enough so reading a book that doesn't end well ain't my idea of a good time. Authors can do what they want of course but I refuse to waste my time reading a story or continuing to read a story if it's not going to end good. I read both black romance and interracial. Love is love and I'm here for my melanated queens finding the love they deserve. Regardless if it's with black men or non black men. I'm also a grammar nazi. I'm sorry but poor punctuation and spelling bothers me on an ocd level. I can take limited errors but too many and I ain't finishing reading. Period. Have pride in your work. If you don't care about presentation.I don't care to finish. Outside of reading. I love traveling, anime & manga, other comics, Harry Potter, listening to music daily, sword collecting and other obscure non mainstream hobbies people claim black women don't enjoy.
