I’d like to enter a local contest which allows the submission of up to 3 poems. I’d like to know from my small group of followers what your favorite poems from my sole published work are.

Hi John, thank you so much for the votes on my book. I'm surprised you're still on here and active on wattpad. You still write or are you only a reader now? How's your poetry book have you completed it now? It's nice to see a familiar face (I remember I used to read your poetry book when I was on here). Well anyways have a nice day.

I still am on here my poetry book is essentially done, I’m trying to curate a chapbook graphic novel with some of the poems. Also trying to work on novels as well. I appreciate all the kind words and have always enjoyed your work, thank you for reaching out :).

Hey bigjonhwt, thanks for the vote on my new poetry collection :)
And congrats on your book reaching 1k views!

Btw have you tried advertising your book inShare Your Story threads ( https://www.wattpadwriters.com/t/share-your-poetry-here/56516) for more exposure? If you're not aware wattpad has forums which you can access through "community" button on the top left of your screen and then you click "community" again from the drop down menu. You can't access it directly from the app though, so you just load it separately through the browser. The url is https://www.wattpadwriters.com/. Before you post in SYS threads, beware that as a new user it won't allow you to post links and pictures, so I advise you first to browse through the general forum. something like 20 mins of reading time will unlock the feature (it's just wattpad trying to prevent spam bots).

Thank you! I will definitely check it out.

*remove the parenthesis from the first link if the link doesn't work- it somehow got included in the hyperlink. Oh an I forgot to mention the community site is mobile friendly, but I'm not sure if some people just use the forums from the discourse app directly .

What a delightful surprise seeing you in my notifications! Thank you so much for checking out my work. What an honer to have my work liked and approved by as someone as good as you! Have you been doing poetry for a while,if I may ask?

@bigjonhwt By 'putting it out there', do you mean in anonymous places like the internet or within your close circle? Honestly, I don't think it's that common to share poetry when you're younger - especially if they're personal. You gotta be very brave to share something like poetry. I didn't really share my work either, save for a very few, rare occasions. And I didn't even realize one of my high school friends was into poetry & creative literature until she published a poetry piece in the yearbook xD (but perhaps we just weren't as close at that time.

I feel ya; I don't have ADD but books are so hard to work on and the only completed works I have are my poems. I get so many plot ideas but never the desire and willpower to flesh them out. And honestly, writing books takes a *lot* of time and patience. You don't even know how many writers here on wattpad are just like you and lose interest once they begin a new book (I've seen these types of posts on the forums so often) - so don't be too harsh on yourself. Even us writers without ADD are struggling lol

I’ve always enjoyed doing it but as a big “tough” guy it was not the type of thing that I put out there often when I was younger for fear of ridicule. I’ve always enjoyed writing stories, and novels as well but I have ADD which makes it hard for me to finish 5000 plus word chapters and I often will have another book idea that I will then leave my current writing to work on and so the cycle goes of never finishing anything. Poetry though allows me to finish works and I enjoy the self expression as well as the challenge of trying to have a good rhyme scheme.
