I'm a real southerner--I'm from South Dakota. Weaned on black hills treasure hunts and family tales like pages from a Steinbeck novel, naturally, I became a writer. I spent my youth creating “radio shows” on antique recording tape, making stop-animation films, and building ill-conceived flying machines out of lawn furniture and go cart motors. A science fair robot led to a career in software and technical writing, including a stint working with the creators of the video game “Doom” and a chance to write for the on-line journal “TechTarget.” Along the way, I married an aquanaut, got hugged by a manatee, and trained my Aussie dog to pull a sled.

I'm an L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest winner, a Colonnade Writing Contest winner, and have been long-listed for the James White Award.
