I’m so freaking tired.
The autistic community has been outraged, hurt, targeted and mocked by her fans for weeks/months but no one seems to care.
As if an allistic person mimicking autistic mannerisms, the whole cooperating with a hate group and her agreeing that non speaking autistic individuals Are like inanimate objects wasn’t bad enough.
The supposed “love letter” also shows and validates forcing an autistic individual who’s having a meltdown into prone restraint. Something that does nothing to soothe a meltdown instead it’s known to not only worsen the distress and trigger more panic but it has also KILLED so many people.
Not only will the misrepresentation once again set us back with stereotypes and autistic people won’t get the diagnosis they NEED for proper help and accommodations (a great contributor to our horrifyingly high suicide rates), but now we will have to worry even more that we will be murdered in the streets for having a meltdown. it won’t just be the police and our “care givers” that might literally squeeze us to death this time but also entitled random strangers who might think that prone restraint is the way to go.
