Am looking forward to reading your books but the Gay Village ones first. Lived in Toronto twice altogether for 20 years. Am now down the road in London (not the real one but the wanna be one).
Would love to go back to Toronto as my family is all gone now so it's just me. Maybe another year. Am currently homeless and living in a private room in a shelter so now would be a good time to go back.
Got introduced to the male (I'm straight female) gay life originally in the early 70s when things were very bad for gay males. The Village itself is a lovely part of the city.
Thanks for listening. Can't wait for your books to bring back great memories.

@CathyMik Oh hey hello fellow Torontonian!

@jaguarinwonderland Aw man, I really appreciate that. Right now my life is kind of a hot mess (three relatives have died; four people I know have been diagnosed with cancer) so it might be a while. :/

@mklutz I have been working for the last 3 years on my novel, Superpower. It starts with the funniest opening chapter in the history of literature. Can I ask you for your thoughts on it? It really means a lot

Hey, I'm a Toronto girl as well. I'm currently living down the road in London. Lived in Toronto twice - altogether for over 20 years and miss it lots. Still have friends there.

Was an east end kid - mostly East York (Main and Danforth) and then Victoria Park and Danforth.

Don't have any family left now so there's nothing keeping me in London any more. Am thinking very seriously of moving back. What's holding me back is I'm not very familiar with what is a good or bad area to live in. A friend of a friend said they had lived up near (damn, can't think of the mall - just north of the 401 and the Don Valley on the west side of the Don Valley). They really liked it there. I can't find my friend to get specifics. Any suggestions?

Very familiar with The Village. Have many male gay friends and went to Pride every year. The first time I lived in Toronto was back in the 70s so was very familiar with most of the gay bars at the time.

Was Dad was in the Canadian army so had led a fairly sheltered life. It was quite a shock to see the gay side of life. Loved every single thing about it.

          Take care and stay safe.

@CathyMik Hey! I've lived in a few areas of Toronto and I've got friends all over it. Not super familiar with the area up by Yorkdale (that's the one, right?) but I've heard good things about Yonge & Eg, Keele station (though in winter it's a slog!), the annex (though it's a lot of student housing / rich people right now), and the west end around the Dundas car.

I'm most familiar with the downtown core, though it's super expensive now, so you kind of have to pick your battles. The gaybourhood is still great, and there are lots of new condos and apartments going up all the time, as well as more Ryerson residences.

Good luck with your potential move!
