Hi Wattpadders,

Happy New Year! My new novel What Holds Us Together is now on sale from Kensington Books, available in trade paperback and e-book. You can find it anywhere you buy your books: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple Books—you get the idea! Or if you prefer the library, you can ask your library to carry it. Many libraries take requests.

I haven't been on Wattpad so much lately, but you can find me on Twitter, Instagram or my Facebook author page (@sandiwardbooks). I try to follow back if a person has "author" or "writer" in their bio—or just let me know, hey, I'm a Wattpadder. And we can connect! :)

Hi, love your books (read TAT on kindle after reading Cat on here a long time ago!). If I remember correctly, you had a follow up story about Finn—saw an earlier post on here and think it was Everything he Wants? Was wondering how that story was tracking or if it may be released at some point, I’d love to read it! :)

sandiwardbooks

@bylilli Hi! Thanks for asking about Everything He Wants. I took that story down from Wattpad to work on it. Honestly, I have rewritten that story over and over (literally for years), and can't quite seem to get it right. Maybe it will end up back on Wattpad someday. I'm also trying to adapt part of it into a short story. Someday I'll get it right...I hope!

hi, just wondering if everything he wants has been discontinued or are you still writing it? hope you're well, stay safe x

_helpp

@Tibby0 I really hope it does, I remember loving it and I spent so long trying to find it in my library a few days ago . ik motivation can be quite difficult, I personally am struggling with it myself, but it would mean the world to read it again x

@Tibby0 Hi, thanks for asking. I've been working on that story for years! I've been trying to edit it. Maybe your note will motivate me to get back to work on it.

I’m not sure if you still use this app but this is worth a shot!! I remember when I was young you had a book on here called “Cat.” I absolutely adored that book and I was hoping to find it again :(

sandiwardbooks

@noahpackkk It would be no problem! You can Message me your address here on Wattpad, or email me at: sandi@sandiwardbooks.com and I'll send it out.

Oh my goodness that is the best news ever!! I’m so happy that you got it published!! I do live in the US and if you didn’t mind sending an extra copy I would be so happy! I read that story on here about five times when I was younger and re-download the app in hopes it was still here!

@noahpackkk Hellooo! Yes, I do still get notifications from the app! I turned my story Cat into a novel, called The Astonishing Thing. It was published by Kensington Books in 2017 and re-issued in mass market paperback in 2020. You can find it on Amazon, and other bookish sites. I have extra copies so if you are in the US or Canada, I'd be happy to mail you the book if you want...just message me an address and I will send it. I'm always happy to hear someone enjoyed one of my stories. :)

If you'd like to read one of my short stories (for free online), EIGHTEEN is now featured on the Writers Digest web site: https://bit.ly/2FuW1HK

This story won First Place in the Young Adult category of the 14th Annual Writers Digest Popular Fiction Awards. It's also Fantasy and there happens to be a few dragons involved, if you're into that sort of thing. Hope you enjoy it!

Is anyone out there paying to read "Supported" Wattpad stories? If you've done it, what did you think? Did you pay to try and find a better quality story, or just because you like to support authors? Did you read the book all the way through to the end? Once you "unlock" a chapter, can you go back and re-read it without paying again? I haven't read a Supported story myself. I'm wondering if anyone is participating and how it's going.

sandiwardbooks

@cabone Yes, I agree with you. If I'm going to pay for a story, then why not buy one that has been professionally edited and produced? I think the whole appeal of Wattpad is to read first drafts and help each other become better writers.

At the same time, I want to support other writers, of course! This site shouldn't make money off of the hours and hours of hard work of other people without sharing the profits, right? Otherwise they're just taking advantage of people as "volunteers". A lot of people on this site provide information and support as monitors, and also writing stories, all for free. So I can see both sides of it.

@sandiwardbooks It's intriguing isn't it? I have a feeling we'll never know.

@julietlyons I haven't actually spoken to anyone who has paid for a story, so I'm curious! Who pays for stories, and why? I wonder how the program is going overall.

My publisher, Kensington Books, is giving away 26 copies of my latest novel, SOMETHING WORTH SAVING, starting today on Goodreads! (Goodreads is a site where book lovers post reviews, and it's free to sign up for an account. Sorry, this giveaway is U.S. only. )

SOMETHING WORTH SAVING is the story of a dysfunctional family told from the point of view of their family cat, named Lily. Lily knows that someone has been hurting her favorite person in the world, 14 year-old Charlie, and she's determined to find out who is bullying him and do something to stop it. Charlie's dad was recently kicked out of the house for drinking too much, so Charlie doesn't have as much support as he used to. And the huge crush he has on a classmate is confusing and scaring him. Lily wants to help Charlie—but how?

Is there a reason we can't upload a nice, colorful Wattpad banner on our profiles anymore? Everyone's banner art is greyed out. There's a dark overlay on top of whatever I upload. Is there a reason for that? (I suppose it's to make the profile photos in the circle stand out...but is it necessary?) I don't see a good-looking banner on any profile, and I've been looking around a while. I used to be able to upload a bright, full-color banner. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas how to improve this...

sandiwardbooks

@Mpadgett80 That's a good idea. I think the current banners that look best are black, grey or red. Every time I try a bright blue, it looks really washed out.

@sandiwardbooks Ah, I get it. Yeah, they're always tweaking the look.
Reply

sandiwardbooks

@rskovach It's kind of a subtle effect—not all grey. Just muted.
