          - old gods of appalachia: folk horror,  historical setting, super atmospheric with lots of creepy monsters and badass witches including an asexual icon who defeated a demon with her bare hands and has a pet bear
          - ghost wax: the last necromancer and his friends solve supernatural mysteries by interviewing various ghosts about how they died 
          - welcome to night vale: dark comedy set in a town where all the horrors are real and also normal. Residents include an old woman and her illegal angel friends, a five headed dragon who wants to be mayor, a sentient glowing cloud who’s on the school board, plus our narrator, a gay radio host, and his scientist boyfriend
          - alice isn’t dead: anxious woman goes out across the country in search of her missing wife, encounters human eating monsters, hoodie wearing oracles, and creepy americana imagery
          - blackwood: 3 teens try to investigate a local cryptid only to encounter mysteries, a cult, and being doomed by the narrative
          - mabel: a hospice worker uncovers the secrets of a living house, the fae, while also falling in love with a creepy cool woman

I either like really tragic and creepy stuff or really dumb stuff and there is no inbetween

if i had a nickel for every time i was invested in a m/f relationship in a book where the gal stabs the guy through the heart, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
