Nikita Khan is your character, aka the main protagonist of the book. She's the childhood bestfriend of Cha Joo-Young, as they met seven years ago, went to same school and were roommates. After graduation life got in the way so you barely got to talk anymore until she invited you to her birthday party. Your character grew up in Busan and writes for The Korea Herald. She had an internship in Mexico city. She also worked as a junior stringer on the OP's Mexico City Bureau. Your Character is shown to be friendly and trusting, however she can be quite assertive when people treat her or the people she cares about poorly. She's determined to keep things fair. Your character is brave and willing to take risks for justice.

Byun Joo-young (Chaen)

She's one of the most important character of the book, who's Y/N's bestfriend. Although the story mainly revolves around her, she'd mostly be absent. She's fiance of Do Kyungsoo, though the relationship was tumultuous due to both Kyungsoo's family and Chaen's elder brother not approving of it. Her disappearance spurs the book's events into motion. She worked summers at a dive bar called "Southside Parlor". Two years prior to the events of the book, she opened a bakery called 'Canvas cake'.
