The Chronicles of Mercury Bella Riddick

Chapter 1

Mercury Bella Rivera reflected back on her past that evening before turning thirty-one years old in two days.  The planet she was born on was called Sono Exsilium, it is a dry dusty reddish planet that has two large red Suns and no Moons.  It has no animals, but at one point some colonists brought crickets and other insects to the planet.  It’s only food sources are hydroponic gardens in many different areas of the planet, while the water sources come from underground-cavern water wells.

At five years old, children were taken from their parental figures to live on military-style bases, males and females were assigned to different compounds.  Males could choose to learn anything they wanted, while females were only allowed to learn things that were thought of as feminine such as cooking, cleaning, and making clothing.  At thirty-one years old, females were chosen by males as temporary spouses and were assigned only jobs that were deemed as feminine.  If males couldn’t agree on certain women, then those women were assigned to brothel houses all over the planet.

Living in a society where women weren’t thought much of wasn’t easy.
Mercury Bella was assigned to the Rivera Base.  Born with a higher than avenge intelligence, she listened closely and observed the ways of their society and quickly learned the rules.  As a result, she learned how men treated women on Sono Exsilium.  She decided at six years old, that she wanted to learn all she could and then escape off planet before she turned thirty-one years old.  She would sneak male clothing from the base’s laundry and learn in the male-only learning areas when no one noticed, since females were given only dresses to wear.  Luckily by seven years old, she had learned how to speed read, since her intelligence made her a quick learner.  When she turned twelve years old, she noticed her body had started to grow and look more feminine.  Meaning, she could no longer pretend to be a young boy and sneak into the male-only learning areas.

At thirteen years old, she noticed drooling males would stop to look at her physical features from time to time.  Seeing this made her choose to secretly start using the blueprints, she had created as a ten year old to one day be able to escape.  Little by little she would slip off with the supplies and materials that she would need for these projects, during no noticed.  When she got to her mid-teens, the women in her compound said, “Mercury Bella your curves and looks would make any male willing to die for you.”  In response, she worked longer nights in one of the unused warehouses to finish her projects quicker, so she could get away as soon as possible.

As soon as she finished, she hid them and started to plan her escape.  With the many skills she had learned, she knew she would be able to survive off planet no matter where she went.   She decided she would go through with her escape plan, the night before her thirty-first birthday.
