IN THE HOURS BETWEEN • TC

𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗡

When her brother's exchange student first comes to stay, Una feels like a stranger in her own house. Timothée speaks English slowly and softly; pauses in the wrong places, constantly tries to take back what he has already said.

But once words have been spoken, the air forms around them. They are stuck there; they cannot be withdrawn. What Timothée says to her after those six months spent in her house, at her table, in her garden, using her things, will devastate her.

More than half a decade later, Una will be able to understand what he meant. Will realise that what Timothée said to her cannot be taken back.

But can it be redeemed?

Also I've finally realised that I can save a lot of time by setting a story somewhere I've actually been...so welcome to London!!!

Some of you may notice that the concept of French exchange Timothée sounds familiar... that's because I couldn't give him a 7000 word imagine and leave it at that. He demanded more space in my head and hopefully now he'll be demanding more space in yours, too!

Also I've been learning French for ages so I (like to) think I have a fairly good grasp of what the learning process is like (albeit English to French and not the other way around). HOWEVER, I'M NOT FRENCH, and I'm not fluent. So if there's something wrong, either with the written language or with other aspects of the culture, please correct me! I love to learn new things, and it's not my intention to mangle anyone's language/ place of birth.

I'll be updating this story every weekend, starting this Sunday. Hopefully that's a schedule I can stick to!!!!! We'll see.
