when the laughter stops
and the smiles fade
everyone goes home
nothing to say
retreat to my bed
and lie in the dark
remember the pain
too clever to outsmart
all my friends sleep
soft and silent
while i stay up screaming
through methods of violence
cut my own skin
tear out my hair
sit in the corner
wishing they were there
i know you see the scars
tear stains on my face
pain in my eyes
but it'll all be replaced
smile my smile
bite my cut lip
pretend i'm perfect
don't let it slip
don't show your weakness
don't flash the lies
don't let them see
how much you want to die
