Let me start this of by saying, sorry to whoever read chapter 20 already 😭 next time another chapter like that shows up, I'll have a summarized version out the same day.

So, you know those songs on an album that everyone feels coulda been kept in the drafts? You know, like... Satellites on I Am... Sasha Fierce? .. or Privacy on Invincible? 🥴

If this book was an album, chapter 20 was that song 💀. It hurts, I won't get the time back, but imma G and imma take the L and give whoever didn't read it the main takeaways that are either very important to the plot or plot checkpoints. Allons-y!

1. Sean's mother (Carys) left him when he was young, but left him a note to find her one day. Spoiler: he will.

2. Sean's father is sick. He's already suffered a mini stroke (cocaine related) and can get a full fledged one at some point ...

3. Sean goes to church and befriends Yana's mother. No, he doesn't know they're related. Yes, it's lowkey important. They have a deep conversation on a park bench. Think Forrest Gump on that bus bench talkin to random women about his life 💀

4. Sean goes home that night, gets really high and drunk, and comes back to the church to talk with Yana's mother again (Shanice) about his suicidal thoughts since she's the only person he knows who's not pissed at him. When he gets there he sees ... Elijah.

5. He calls Michael to tell him, but also throws up as he tells him, so Michael, who knows he must be intoxicated, doesn't believe him and hangs up. Ummm, I'm on Michael wit this one 😭 don't call me and throw up on the line plssssksjkss

6. Sean starts to doubt what he saw. He knows he's high on a hallucinogenic drug, plus Elijah didn't look like Elijah in his eyes, so he goes home.

7. Once he's home, he calls and checks into rehab. "Hallucinating" Elijah was the last straw for him, so he decides to get help. He'll be in rehab for a 60-day time period, but he won't come back right after that. He'll be gone for a while, so you guys get a break ... from him. 🥴
