I am afraid of many things
horror movies and haunted houses
or the openness of the ocean
and creatures lurking inside of it
when shadows cast tendrils
into darkness
when friends turn their backs
the way a creaking radiator
can sound like a door hinge
and people are starving
yet no one seems to care
but what alarms me the most
day after day
is myself
