I woke up in my small cottage in the middle of the forest, feeling sleepy and lazy. My family had never been rich; we stayed away from society. My father sold the meat he hunted for a living. He loved hunting more than anything. That's what he named me: Hunter. I always found it interesting that he named his child after murdering animals.

I really don't care anymore. After all, that's what I do as well now. Hunt. It's I've ever learned to do, other then homeschooling from my mother. Hunting is my life. I've never had friends, we don't visit family, and I spend all my time outside in this forest. My human interaction is limited, but I think it's better that way. No friends, no one can stab you in the back.

Stay in the shadows. Quiet. Unnoticed. And trust no one.

That's what my father always told me. My mother would tell me behind his back, He who doesn't trust won't be trusted. I don't know where she got from, but I couldn't care less. I don't need anybody to trust me. I can handle myself. I always wonder how he fell in love with mother. He didn't seem like the type of person who needed love.

I got up from bed to see a note on my door from my father saying,

𝒮𝑜𝓃,𝒮𝒾𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝐼 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝒷𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝓉𝑜 𝓈𝑒𝓁𝓁 𝓂𝑒𝒶𝓉, 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓈𝒽𝒶𝓁𝓁 𝓅𝓇𝑜𝓋𝒾𝒹𝑒 𝓂𝑒𝒶𝓉 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝓂𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝑜 𝓂𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒹𝒾𝓃𝓃𝑒𝓇. 𝒯𝓇𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓃𝑜 𝑜𝓃𝑒,𝐹𝒶𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇

As usual.

I was up with the sun, just like my mother. I grabbed an apple, greeted her, and went to meet my friends.

In our small town, everyone knows me as Little Red Riding Hood. I've told my mother to tell people to just call me by my normal name, Rose. But when I was 7, my grandmother gave me my favorite red coat. I loved it so much that when I grew out of it, she bought me a new one. And she bought me one every year. Red is my favorite color; it's a little obvious since it's all I ever wear, blended with some blacks, browns, and other colors.

Everyone knows who I am in this town. I mean everyone. Other then my red-based attire, I'm known for my bright and bubbly personality. That's what all my friends love about me. Everyone knows my mother as well. She's known for her kindness.

I just try to do my best, especially when the spotlight always seems to be on me.

I'm not perfect, and I know that.

I'm just trying to fit in and show how great of a person I am.

Even if it means sometimes being in the shadows.
