Thoughts swirling on the ceiling,
Eyes open wide;
Every time I take one step ahead,
It's like I'm pulled back ten miles.That single drop of salt,
Walks down the watery lane;
Cheeks flushed red,
With a reminder of yet another disappointment.Walls that I build up
To protect myself;
Are now slowly moving in,
Almost too close to closing in.With every hour ticking by
Patience is slowly wearing off;
And with the pain being multiplied,
There's only so much one can take on.Don't we all know
At one point the sand will slip out;
Then why do they wait around
Hoping along the lines of
'adjusting will make things work out'Determined to make them happy
Might as well stay quiet till the end
But with the longer it takes
Will the ashes be any darker?Disguised smiles
Might hide the teary eyes;
But with the fire within blowing up,
Burning out is only a matter of time.
