grace :
it was thursday afternoon, in the midst of golden hour, when a calm breeze made its way across the city and up into the mountains. the breeze to me, at least, felt refreshing. as if i were breathing in a new beginning and exhaling thoughts of yesterday.
how i longed to do things differently, make new memories to replace the old ones. i reminisced for a while, sitting on the cold tailgate of my old pickup truck. i thought about my family, friends, old boyfriends... every choice i've ever made led me to this very moment. it's crazy to think about, but i'm moving away. after graduating highschool and then college, i decided to pack up and find my place in this big, gigantic world. and to do that, i had to leave.
the fear of the unknown lurked in the depths of my mind, but i believe that curiosity overruled the fear. it was time that i, grace a. rainwater, left her home to begin a new life.
following the road ahead, i couldn't bare to take a glance back at my old life. what i am leaving behind... but as difficult as it was to just pack up and leave, i knew that there had to be something worth it in the future.
