'When the time comes, promise me kaeya, promise me that you'll end it all...end me.'

Kaeya shivered as Albedo's words swirled through his head, seeping into the very core of his thoughts, carving its place out in his mind. Coils of delicate frost ran up his trembling arms, staining his dark skin red. At the time, he had laughed it off and pulled Albedo in for a kiss, thinking his words were a joke.

'Of course my love, anything for you.'

Albedo wasn't joking, Kaeya realised now; he never does.

Before Kaeya stood a dragon, as tall and large as the tower in old Mond; larger than stormterror. Albedo had not transformed slowly, it was gradual, as most changes are.

It had started with lingering gazes, ones that held malice instead of love, yet at the time, Kaeya could not tell the difference. It had slowly developed into flashes of pink and red in Albedos clear blue eyes. Albedo had just said that he had been experimenting on himself again, Kaeya had chastised him for doing so. Then came the growls, Kaeya had found it weird at first, but had decided not to point it out, maybe Albedo was just stressed from work. Being the Chief alchemist of the Knights of Favonius must be troublesome after all.

If only Kaeya had known how right he was, if only Kaeya had paid more attention.

Then he wouldn't be here.

Red eyes flickered to him every so often, swirling with blue as soon as their gazes met, but even Kaeya could tell that the blue was getting weaker, and the red was only growing stronger...Durin was growing stronger.

Durin tore at Mondstat, long, black wings veined with red splayed out behind him, showing his power. Mondstat was destroyed. Houses were levelled, people were dead, and the knights were scattered. Kaeya had spent hours looking for Klee, knowing that Albedo would never forgive himself if anything happened to her, but he couldn't find her.

It scared him.

Kaeya was the only one left.

Even Dvalin had shown up, sweeping in with his thundering winds, tearing at Durin's armoured skin. Kaeya appreciated Dvalins efforts, for it gave the knights time to evacuate as many civilians as they could, but in the end, his fight had been in vain. His corpse was pierced by a spire above the cathedral, his body had crushed the building.

Kaeya felt tears fall down his face, it was time to fulfill his promise, he didn't want to, but he had to.

He had to.

He brought his arms up with clenched fists and released his eyes crystals, charging forward as they swirled around him. He jumped up to Durin, running up his tail and cutting under his scales. Durin roared in pain, thrashing as he started to lift into the air.

Kaeya held on to him, making it to Durins head, he swung around Durin's horn, his crystals slashing at the dragon's skin. Kaeya stared at him in the eye, looking for any sign of Albedo; praying for any sign of Albedo.

There was nothing.

"I love you." Kaeya whispered, before plunging his sword into Durin's eye.

Durin fell, clawing at his injured eye, Kaeya let go of the horn and fell with him, sinking the sword into the dragon's chest, using his body weight to cut through, tearing down the dragon's body. Blood mixed with the tears on Kaeya's face as he looked up into Durin's eyes once again.

He saw a swirl of blue take over the uninjured blood red eye, Kaeya gasped as he let go of the sword, plummeting to the ground.

Together, they fell together.

He kept his promise.
