Growing

The hopes we have as kids.

So pure, so innocent, so weak.

The vague happiness we expressed,

Unknowing of what to come next.

I see how people grow,

More than they see it themselves.

I see how they start to fade,

In the reality they await.

They silence their voices to the minimum,

I cannot yet understand why.

My optimistic soul be with them,

As they age with time.

The hopes we have as adults,

Ruined, crushed and hurt.

The future we believed in,

The line so thoroughly blurred.

I wish my people remained children,

Excited to still be alive.

Not doubting their existence,

And why they are alive.

Too many of my closest,

Went into their teens.

Now a product of the media,

Pausing their joy to dream.

I may seem childish, foolish and slow,

But I assure you, that's just a cloak.

I am just as much of a teen,

But with feelings you might not see.

I am human, just like you.

I cannot help you through it all,

But when you need me, I am here,

To give you hope and lose the fear.

I'm your friend, a person you trust.

Your mentality, your own puzzle to discuss.

But one day your pain will be solved,

So be proud of the journey you have gone.
