Kenma's point of view
"It'll be fun, Kenma!" Kuroo kept urging.
"No."
"Why?"
"I don't want to."
I just want to sit on my bed, playing my new game. I don't want to hang out with him and his girlfriend.
They always get all intimate and I just sit there on my DS, in the corner, like a little kid.
I don't mind the DS. It's actually my choice to bring it. What I DO mind is being next to 2 VERY hormonal teenagers.
Plus, his girlfriend thinks she knows me. She tries to get me to "come out of my shell."
I talk a lot ... to myself and Kuroo, and I'm fine with the people who are in my figurative shell.
Well, you know who isn't in the shell?
Her.
I want her to leave me alone.
"Kenma."
"What?"
"I'm not going without you."
"You can watch me play my DS."
"Kenma I really want to go."
"Then go."
"Come with me."
I just stare at him
"I'm not hearing a no."
"You're not hearing a yes either."
"I just did."
I stare at him idiotically.
"We're not going too far." he says.
Still staring.
"We won't make you uncomfortable, I promise."
I know that's not true.
I don't even get to say anything back to Kuroo, he's already out the door.
I'm in no hurry to get ready.
"Kenma!" Kuroo calls from outside.
His voice doesn't make me go any faster.
I still haven't gotten up from my bed yet. However, my DS is almost dead, and if it dies I'll lose all progress. I look to my desk, where I usually put the charger for this thing. It's not there. I don't remember moving it.
Kuroo.
He must have taken it.
I groan and get up.
I slip on a pair of sneakers, a hoodie which I'm pretty sure is Kuroo's, and shuffle outside.
"Glad to see you're finally ready."
"You took my charger."
"Yes, yes I did."
"Can I have it back?"
"Not until we get to where we're going."
Kuroo starts to walk down the block.
"We're walking?"
"Yep."
Walking. I didn't even want to get up, why do I have to walk? I don't even know how far we're walking.
Ugh I feel like we've been walking for miles.
"Oi, Kenma."
"What?"
"If it gets too late, remind me we have to get up early tomorrow."
"Tomorrow is Sunday. It's our day off."
"Not this Sunday. We have a practice match tomorrow."
"Against who?"
"Friends."
Friends? As far as I know, the only friends Kuroo has are in our sch--
"It's Fukurodani isn't it?" I say."
"How'd you know?"
"Because we wouldn't have a practice match against ourselves."
"Are you saying I have no friends?"
Well, my line came out wrong.
"Yes."
"Well ... you're right about Fukurodani."
Kuroo stops walking and turns onto someone's walkway.
We're at Kuroo's house.
Why do I feel like I've walked a mile, even though it was only 2 blocks?
"Is this where we're meeting?"
"Yep."
That's kind of ... weird.
I guess I showed my inner concern in my eyes, because Kuroo started to laugh.
"You're so sophomoric Kenma."
Sophomoric? I am not sophomoric!
"Give me my charger."
"Oh, that's right," he says, reaching into his jacket pocket,"I almost forgot."
He held it out in his hand and a grabbed it.
Kuroo went into the kitchen to prepare something for his girlfriend I guess. I walk into another room to find an outlet. I know there's one in the family room, so I head there.
I plug in my DS and slump against the wall and onto the floor. Miraculously, it hasn't died yet.
It's taken me weeks to come this close to finishing this stage.
I was in the zone.
Every button I pressed landed a hit on the enemy.
Punch, kick, dodge and so on and so forth.
I was about to beat the enemy when the doorbell rang and snapped me back to reality. At that very moment, the enemy used a special move he had never used before and finished me instead. I rest my DS in my lap, lay my head against the wall and groan.
"Kenma, come say hi!" Kuroo says before opening the door.
Absolutely not.
I'd rather stay here than have that moron know of my presence.
"Kuroo!" I hear this really high pitched voice say. It was followed by a very loud, very obnoxious kiss.
"Hello Asami!" Kuroo says.
He sounds really happy.
I don't care.
"Is Kenma-kun here?"
Why is she asking for me?
Normally, I would disregard all conversation and focus on my game, mainly because mostly, conversation doesn't have to do with me.
"Yes, he is! Kenma!"
Asshole.
"What?"
"Come over here."
I reluctantly get up and walk to the entrance of the house.
"Hi Kenma!"
"Hello." I mutter.
"How have you been?"
"I've been better."
"Aww, what's wrong?"
"I'm here." I say.
She looks surprised but then puts on a small, panicked smile. I can tell she doesn't know how to respond.
I turn around to walk back into the other room.
"Go with him." I head Asami whisper.
Is she making Kuroo go with me?
I go back to my spot, expecting Kuroo to come in after me. After all, he was the only other person at the entrance other than Asami and I.
I feel someone walk into the room.
I look up, expecting to see my friend.
Instead I see ... a girl?
