Prologue

There were constant boxes moving around her, a sort of gloom lingering in the air as she watched her parents continue working, even though they were seemingly aware that their baby girl was getting ready to board a flight and leave them.

She wondered if anybody had actually bothered to tell them where she was going, or that she was leaving in the first place.

Her mother bustled around with the different designs she was working on right now, using her mannequin as a model as she loosely wrapped the yellow tape measurer around her waist, marking the numbers with her perfectly manicured fingers and an old fabric pen.

That same mannequin had given Lucy several frights in the night, but she supposed she wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. Not since she was leaving.

With a brief pat on the back and a forehead kiss, she was dismissed
