In which Iris Hall is forced to discover that the 'monsters' of her story books and monster movies are a little more real than fict...
It's like the world changes when you find out that the monsters of storybooks don't live in the pages alone. Iris was raised in fairytales and monster movies that had at the least twenty years on her. It's not hard to put them off when you always see supernatural beings as fiction. But then, you lose the people who taught you not to fear them, falling backwards into the arms of her mother's best friend. More specifically the husband of her mother's best friend.
And you have to build yourself up, find ways to deal with it, even if it may be new and strange. You find your people, even if at times you wish they were no where near you. But then, the energy in the air gets stagnant and the people you trust seem to change right before your eyes. And you realize that perhaps, the worlds of fiction and your own world may blend in ways you once thought only belonged to folklore.
