Chapter 10 ~ Sectumsempra

Monday morning, March 17th. Hermione was having breakfast with Ron and Harry when all the sudden Ron clears his throat, "Guys, it's Katie..." Katie Bell had finally gotten out of the Hospital after the Opal Necklace incident. Harry stands up and walks over to talk to Katie. Hermione watches him and then looks back to Ron who was busy stuffing his face. She looked over to the entrance and saw Draco walk in, she shakes her head no. He looks at her confused then looks forward to see Katie looking at him, Harry turns around and sees Draco who looks terrified then looks at Hermione before turning around to leave. Hermione looks at Harry who starts to follow Draco, "Harry, no!" He ignores her and follows Draco out.

 Hermione gets up and runs to Severus who was sitting at his own table talking to Professor Sprout, "Professor..."

"Ms. Granger, I am in the middle of a conversation..."

"It's urgent, please."

Severus looks up at her and notices how worried she was. He turns to Sprout, "I'm sorry, would you excuse me?"

"Go ahead, I don't mind." 

Severus gets up and follows Hermione into the hallway. Hermione began hyperventilating causing Severus to grabs her face and make her look at him, "Calm down Hermione, what's going on?"

"You need to find Draco and Harry! Harry just chased after him. He's been reading this Advanced Potions textbook that had notes written in it from some 'Half-Blood Prince' and I'm afraid Harry will do something stupid."

"Half-Blood Prince?!"

"Draco usually goes to the prefects restroom to calm down..."

Severus starts to run towards the prefects restroom and Hermione follows him.

"Sectumsempra!", Harry's voice echoes into the empty hallway

"No!", Severus hisses as he runs faster, "Any spell but that...."

Hermione looks at him confused as he runs into the restroom. Hermione stands in the hallway and waits. A few minuets later Harry walks out and looks at Hermione, Hermione stands up straight and looks at him worried, "Harry!" 

She could see Harry was shaking. He looks up at her, "Did... did you get Snape?"

"I was worried... h-he was the only person I could think of... Look, I'm sor-"

Harry starts to cry as he hugs Hermione, "Thank you for getting him..."

Hermione hugs him back surprised, "What happened?"

"Take me away from here... the common room..."

Hermione nods as they walk to the Gryffindor common room. Once there, Harry throws the textbook on the coffee table, sits on the couch, and continues crying. Hermione looks at him confused. Right as she was about to ask a question Ginny, Ron, and Lavender walked in. They all stopped and look at Harry crying. Ginny sat next to him, "What happened?"

Harry looks up to Ginny and hugs her, "I almost killed Draco..."

Ron holds Lavender's hand as they listen. Hermione stood there frozen, "You..."

"I used a spell I read in the book without understanding what it would do... there was blood everywhere..."

Lavender covered her ears and burred her face into Ron's chest. Ron hugged her and looked at Harry, "Bloody hell Harry..."

"I... I didn't want to hurt him! We were fighting... I..."

Ginny grabs the textbook, "We need to get rid of this. Come on Harry, I know where we could put it." 

Harry nods and follows Ginny out. Ron and Lavender sit on the couch as she shakes her head at the thought, Hermione took the chance and slipped out into the hall bolting back to the prefects restroom. Once there she could still hear Severus and Draco inside, she walked in to see Draco on the floor covered in blood and Severus above him doing a spell to heal him. Hermione sits next to him crying, "Draco?" 

Draco looked up to Hermione, "Hey."

"Don't speak Draco." Severus ordered.

Hermione nods and shushes Draco. She takes his hand with one and strokes his hair with the other, "Don't worry, Severus will help you. You'll be ok."

Draco nods, "Astoria knows we are secretly friends. I told her I was trying to be more accepting of other blood statuses."

"Good cover.", she chuckles.

"Tell her... I'm not hurt that bad... "

"Ok."

"Don't let her know how, I don't want her to worry."

Severus growls, "Draco, please stop talking. Hermione will tell Astoria that you had a backfire during a private session with me."

Hermione nods, "See, you're good."

"Hermione, please go get Dumbledore for me."

"Ok." Hermione runs off to Dumbledore's office. She runs in without knocking and Dumbledore looks up at her, "Ms. Granger..."

"Please follow me sir, it's urgent."

Without another word he stands up and follows her all the way to the prefect restroom. As soon as Dumbledore walks in he is shocked by the scene, "Severus what happened?"

"Potter used Sectumsempra..."

"How does he even know that spell?"

"He... he found my old potions book...."

Hermione looks at him in awe, "You're the half-blood prince?"

"Yes... Had I known Harry possessed my book this whole year, I would have had you take it from him long ago."

The three of them proceed to levitate Draco to the Hospital wing. Once there, they put him in a bed. Madame Pomfret walked out of her office, "What is going on her- Mr. Malfoy!" She runs over and starts to treat. Severus turns and looks at Hermione, "Why don't you go find Astoria ok? Breakfast is almost over. She might still be there."

"Ok, I'll go look for her."

Severus puts his forehead against hers and closes his eyes, "Thank you... if not for you he would have died."

Hermione smiles, "Of course." She then kisses his cheek while no one was looking before leaving. Back in the great hall Hermione looked around for Astoria and spotted her sitting at the end of the Slytherin table looking around, most likely waiting for Draco. Hermione walks up and clears her throat, "Excuse me.."

Astoria looks up at her, "Oh... hi Hermione."

"May we speak in private?"

Astoria nods and follows Hermione outside into the courtyard. They find a private spot to sit under the tree. Astoria smiles at Hermione, "What's up?"

"Draco is in the hospital wing, he was practicing some magic with Snape and one of his spells backfired on him."

"What, is he ok?"

"He should be fine, If you want to see him you can after dinner, I'll go with you."

"Ok, sounds like a plan. Thank you for telling me, I really appreciate it."

"Of course."

Astoria and Hermione hug before she walks away. Hermione looks up at the castle still processing what Harry had done to Draco and to the fact that Severus was the half-blood prince. All those nights trying to figure out who it was, and she was going to marry him. 

That night, Hermione was in the back of the hospital wing as Astoria sat next to Draco, holding his hand. Severus had given him a potion that he can take, it allowed him to move around freely without pain for a short amount of time. Severus then walked up to Hermione, "Our lord wishes to see us..."

Hermione looks up at him worried, "Why?"

"Well he want to thank us for saving Draco... and he's moving our wedding forward."

"What? But.."

"Come on... We can't keep him waiting."

Hermione nods and follows Severus. She starts to get really nervous.
