I should have expected this, to be ambushed during the peace treaty with the second Raikage, how incompetent but to think ginkaku and kinkaku were this capable, however, they had only made it this far due to me being severely worn out

it was not only ginkaku and kinkaku who ambushed me, dozens of S and A rank shinobis joined in as well, however, I was able to escape temporarily, my first priority is to get to hiruzen and the others

"tobirama sensei!" my students called out to me, I crouched down to the ground and placed my index finger and middle finger on the ground, closing my eyes 

"we're surrounded...there's...twenty of them, judging from their skill in tracking, I'd say they're from kumogakure, most likely from the highly skilled kinkaku unit," I said, "there are seven of us including you, lord Hokage," Homura said 

"were completely outnumbered Homura! don't be such a coward" "the enemy hasn't pinpointed our position yet, we should lay low and wait until we can find an opportunity to break through" koharu suggested 

"it's no use, koharu, one of us will have to divert their attention," Kagami said "a decoy? that means certain death, whos it gonna be?" we stayed silent, thinking 

"I will go" hiruzen volunteered "sarutobi!" "hiruzen, you.." hiruzen laughed "don't worry! I may not look it but I know I'm better than any of you, I won't die," I noticed Danzo's defeated look, I know it wasn't because he would mourn for hiruzen

I watched them interact, with hiruzen putting his trust in Danzo and him lashing out, I stayed quiet till Danzo tried to become the decoy 

"no, I will go and be the decoy, of course. you all are the young wills of fire that will be defending our village in the future." I spoke "no you're the Hokage! there is no greater shinobi in the village than you!" Danzo argued 

narrowing my gaze at him "Danzo, you are always competing with Saru over one thing or another, but what's necessary here is for you to unite and work together as comrades, do not make this a personal fight"

"The fact is, you took too long to reach a decision, you must first look at yourself rationally and you knew yourself. otherwise, at this rate, you will place your comrades in danger" I continued to speak 

"in any case, danzo and Saru, you two are still young, so don't be hasty, your time will come but until that time, stay alive" I stood up and looked down at them, more specifically, at hiruzen 

"Saru, protect those who love the village and those who believe in you and nurture those whom you can entrust the next generation" hiruzen gave me a shocked look "starting tomorrow, you are the Hokage!"

"Saru...take care of the hidden leaf!" hiruzen nodded "yes sir!" I glanced at Danzo who shook 'Danzo...your jealousy and pride will be the end of you' i thought to myself, I turned my back to them 

I knew it was my time to go, I entrust the village to you Saru... I can feel the looking at me but i didn't look back at them, i took a few steps before stopping in my tracks, and I stayed still before i spoke up once more

"I leave the rest to you...Saru" was my last words to them before I left, I couldn't hear his response but knowing him, it was along the lines of 'i won't let you down'

my life was over, the warm feeling in my chest was unfamiliar, I was ready to reunite with my brothers but looking around, I was alone, it was dark and empty 'what is this? is this the afterlife? is there even an afterlife?'
