Who are we
To take a life
To cause suffering
To proclaim ourselves the higher being
Why do we feel superior?
Instinct?
Intelligence?
Beauty?
It cannot be
For animals are just as worthy as me
When it comes to fight or flight
I will always choose to stand and fight
Not for my right
But for theirs
For the fear in their eyes
For the blood streaming down their face
For the squeals they cry in vain
How can we say were humane
When we can so easily cause an animal’s pain
Who are we?
To juggle their fate
To brutally murder their innocent
The proclaim ourselves the higher being
Why do we feel so superior?
To those whom cannot speak
To those whom cannot advocate for themselves
Cannot save themselves
Are we really the “bigger man?”
Or just another animal
Suppressing them by the ignorance we have been lead to believe
So I leave you with this
Who are you?
To condone their agony
To steal their life
For a moments pleasure
Of their flesh
On your taste buds
