*Thud*
"I'll kill you."
Cold. The ground was cold. The air was cold. The clinking chains around his hands were cold. His wrists were burning with pain as trails of blood trickled down his arms. His head, which was being raised only to be brought down to the cold hard ground to strike harshly, was bleeding.
*Thud*
"I'll kill you. I'll kill you. I'll kill you."
But he didn't care about it. The hole in his heart was far more painful to pay attention to anything else. Pulling his arms in a protest against the binding iron chains; or perhaps in an attempt to atone for his sins by punishing himself, he let his arms and head bleed.
*Thud*
"I'll...kill you. I'll kill you."
Muttering the same thing again and again with his voice horse, despite the feelings of rage in the words already gone numb due to the despair, he kept chanting to engrave the pain and anger in the hole of his heart, while raising his head yet again to-
*Thud*
"I'll kill you. I'll kill you. I'll kill you. I'll kill you."
Monotonously he repeated, as there was nothing he could do now. All hope was lost. The people he wanted to save must be dead, away from his vision. All he could do was blame and inflict punishment on himself for his inability, and wait for his own end to come embrace him.
*Drag*
An unfamiliar sound penetrated the silence, making him halt his self-punishment and look up with empty brown eyes. Eyes that no longer had any hope for salvation in this 'time' in them.
*Drag*
Letting his eyes adjust to the dark, he recognized the approaching figure in front of him. Immediately after that, light reappeared in his bloodied eyes.
"Rem?"
The girl, who he thought he had seen die so horrifically and cruelly, dragged her deranged body along the ground to reach him. Her limbs, not in the state of a normal human.
"Rem?...Rem! Rem! Rem!"
His Monotonous voice changed to one of wishful hope, as he screamed out her name in shock. He leaned forward and bit the maid's dress to pull her into his arms. Feeling her cold body, he realized that she won't make it.
"...Rem."
Her name left his mouth very gently, for she felt too fragile in his arms. Red blood swept across her body, posing evidence to her grave wounds.
"Hu...ma"
Her lips trembled as her voice barely managed to leave her throat. She cast a spell to free the person she loved from her heart. The person, for whom she didn't care how much she gets hurt for protecting him.
*Clang!*
The cuffs on his hand shattered by his own blood hardening due to the dying girl's spell.
"Uh?"
He squeaked out a dry sound in surprise. The girl forced her throat again to speak.
"Li...ve."
"Rem? Wait...don't!"
He desperately called out to her as he brushed her messy blue hair to see her faintly opening her eyes and softly held his hand.
