When you're in a pretty dress they won't suspect you of murder. When you have perfect hair they won't look at you twice when looking for the killer. It was midnight and I went to the wall dedicated to the assassin's request behind the pub. I pulled out five as I quickly walked by.

I looked at the table and said
" who wants one of us dead "
I could hear the heavy door close down the hall. I quickly blew out the candle and rushed to my bed. I could see the small licks of light on the floor then it was gone with the click of the door. I threw the thick covers off and looked down at my stained dress
" That was close "

I was dressed up and could hardly breathe because of the corset. As we were walking to the grand hall I kept messing with my curled blond hair about the only thing that ties me to my family a maid said
" did you hear about the recent red killing "
" no, what happened "
" well they know it's him because of the red mark he put on the door but it was this old man by the church and he shot him with an arrow and then sliced his through that man broke off the arrow and left him there in a pool of his own blood"
" oh my "
The large decorative doors opened the gold shining in the light. I looked in at all the people and the room fell quiet and all you could hear was the tap of my heels on the marble floor as I approached the thrown next to my family. I hate this chair the seat is so solid because they had to make one for me because three kids are not the way of those who came before. The carvings in my chair are cleaner than all of there's the twist and flowers have always distracted me. With one deep intake of air, I was listening to the townspeople talk over one another then the king had them talk one at a time. One man in the back yelled
" what are you going to do about the red killer "
They all erupted
" quiet when we find this man he will be dealt with properly "
I've become really good at looking through them all when I'm just there to fill the space. I watch the wallpaper for so long I think the flowers live and die and the gold candle holders water them with their light. Then my eyes drifted down and I saw a man fresh off a ship I swear I can smell the salt on him still though were miles from the ocean. He's drunk and it's like he can feel my disinterest in the matters of this. He looked at the wall for a long while like he can see the same then looks at me his blue eyes clear against this dark attire then leaves the room. I can see the guards walking him out of normal procedures for people leaving early. I was made aware of my father's boring voice as he spoke of crop production and livestock.
" that is all the time we have for today everyone I wish you a good marrow "
He stood and his coat fell off the chair and hung there as it died of boredom. My mother stood next to her large dress sprinting back to life and regaining its bell shape. The people all had their backs turned as they walked out of the castle with a sigh I rose to my feet and went down the long corridors to my room I quickly undid the corset. I was breathing heavily as I pulled an old dress from the wardrobe so I could do the corset a little looser because I was a touch bigger then. I sat down at the table stacked with books and maps I sat there reading absorbing everything I could till I was called for food. Finally, when night fell I removed the fancy lacy dress and changed into the most normal woman dress that was brown with no pattern. I pulled the black cloak over and put up the hood. I opened the hidden door for the servants and made my way out into the village. People didn't look at me twice as I made my way to the pub and I unlocked the small wooden box that was in the wall by the back door for the pub. As I was resecuring the lock I could smell the saltwater
" who do you want dead "
A man said and I could smell the alcohol and in a fake voice I said
" I've changed my mind sir "
I started to walk away and he grabbed me by the hand and he somehow nocked the small vile of red pigment from the hidden pocket in the cloak. With the slight sound, it made when it hit the dirt he spun me around and my body hit the wall with a thud. He put his hand on my through then pulled the hood down with confused eyes he looked between mine then said
" arnt you the princess "
He moved his hand
" the second less important one I'm Rylen "
His hand fell to his side and he said
" Why are you here "
He picked up the vile
" and why do you have this "
I snatched it and said
" it's nothing and like I said I changed my mind ... I can smell the ocean on you where are you from "
" here and there I'm Felix and you should get back to that castle of yours before I pull you into the pub and say you're the red killer "
A smirk grew on his face in the warm candlelight. I put the hood back up and quickly got back to the castle and when I was about to open the hidden door I heard the tap of my fathers' boots on the floor. I know his stride and I know the distance from his door to my own
" 21 .. 22 .. 23 come on keep going "
After a second he continued down the hall and I rushed to my room and I changed into my nightgown just in time
" Rylen "
His voice traveled through the large open room
" come in "
I sat down on the bed and he made his way over and with a smile he said
" I wanted to talk to you about your birthday next week "
" ok "
" sense you're going to be 21 I thought you could decide if it will be a masquerade or just a normal ball "
" really well umm a masquerade that was so fun for Marie's 21st "
" well it's settled "
He left the room and I couldn't help but smile because I for the first time in 20 years got to decide for myself. I know to most this may seem silly but for me I know they still see me though they didn't really want me after my brother. With a sigh, I moved from my plush bed and over to my table and pulled out the map of the village, and began to play out the killing of the woman for cheating.
